A ‘4’ or ‘5’ AP exams score may waive a college class; tests are given first 2 weeks in May.

COLLEGE TESTS DATES

Majority of colleges and NCAA accept ACT scores and or SAT scores. ACT test dates for 2006-2007 are: October 28, December 9, February 10, April 14, and June 9 Register on-line for ACT tests at www.actstudent.org

SAT and SAT II* Tests dates for 2006-2007 are: October 14, November 4, December 2, January 27, March 10, May 5, and June 2. Register on-line for SAT at www.collegeboard.com

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS DATES

A. California State University college applications begin October 1 each year and it is strongly recommended to apply on-line at www.csumentor.edu

B. University of California college applications begin November 1 each year and close November 30. It is strongly recommended to apply on-line at www.ucop.edu or www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/ University of California colleges require students to take SAT or ACT and two SAT II subject tests. If student is going on to engineering, science or mathematics, UC recommends students to take Math 2C test as one of the subject tests. Look at “college of interest” requirements and check to see if any other tests are required prior to admission.

FINANCIAL AID DATES

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be started January 1 - March 15. The sooner the family applies the better for the student’s finances. www.fafsa.ed.gov

DROP DEAD DATE OR LETTER OF INTENT DATE

Many colleges have May 1 as the date you must let the college know if you will be attending that particular campus, this is referred to as a letter of intent.

HOUSING DEADLINES

Several impacted colleges recommend you make a deposit to hold a room at a campus that has limited capacity for housing at the time of applying. Please check with the campus you want to attend as soon as possible to see what the deadlines are for housing.
